Overview
Temple Beth Sholom is committed to providing a Conservative Jewish experience to the members of our youth community — the opportunity to live Jewishly with Jewish peers and role models. Our program is affiliated with United Synagogue Youth (USY) .
The objective of USY and Kadima is to meet the social, educational, religious, and recreational needs of the youth in the Jewish community. USY was established in 1951 with the objective of providing Jewish youth with a youth movement within the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. USY has expanded into an international organization with thousands of members in the United States and Canada. In 1964, Kadima was formed for younger Jewish youth.

USY
- Temple Beth Sholom offers programming for 7th and 8th graders through Junior USY and for 9-12th graders through Senior USY.
- Junior and Senior USYers meet several times each month for social, religious, educational, and cultural programs and events. Activities usually take place on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Amusement park trips, sporting events, holiday programming, and trips to Boston are some of the social activities our USY chapter sponsors.
- We also have opportunity to participate in many regional USY programs through New England Region USY (NERUSY) , such as Encampment, the fall Boat Cruise, Turkey Dances, the Tikun Olam Semi Formal Dance, Leadership Retreat, and Spring Convention.
- Our Senior USY group is very committed to social action projects and supporting Tikun Olam, International USY’s charity fund. Tikum Olam means “Repairing the World.”
Jr. Kadima & Kadima
- Kadima means “forward” and is the name of our youth group for fifth and sixth graders. Kadimanicks at Temple Beth Sholom participate in many fun activities, such as bowling, roller skating, trips to Boston, sporting events, and much more.
- New England Region Kadima sponsors several Kadima events each year, including a visit to an indoor water park and a rock climbing overnight. These are great opportunities for Kadimanicks to meet other Jewish youth from around New England!
- We also have a special group just for 3th and 4th graders called Junior Kadima. Programming includes local outings such as bowling and mini-golf, arts & crafts programs, and holiday programs at the synagogue.
